24/01/18It’s Show Time In London! What’s Trending In Eyewear For 2018?

The 2018 eyewear shows have begun! With Opti-Munich having just passed and 100% Optical in London on the horizon, we are beginning to see trends for 2018 taking shape. Eyewear shows are a perfect opportunity for us to get out and see what is trending in eyewear, update our fashion knowledge and maybe order some exciting new pieces. Fashions are ever changing and we are off to London this weekend to see what’s new. Here’s a run down of what we are expecting 2018 to bring and the brands we are excited to see.

Cutler and Gross

We’ve been a stockist of the exclusive Cutler and Gross collection for a few years now and they always bring something new to the table. Already this year, Cutler and Gross have been at the forefront of an 80s eyewear revival. Millennials have led the way for the over-sized metal frame trend which can clearly be seen in the spring collection. They have also moved away from genderised frames and revamped their collection for a unisex market with some stunning results.

Alain Mikli

Since 1978, french designer Alain Mikli has been providing the world of eyewear with artistic inspiration. His daring approach to design is unrivalled and we anticipate more show stopping pieces from him this year. The 80s revival trend will be a winner in the Mikli collection which is already channelling a “Back To The Future” vibe. Whilst in store, we choose the more commercial pieces for our customers, we adore the art which comes out of his brand. In particular we are looking forward to seeing new releases within the colourful sunglasses collection which we were tempted by last year.

Tom Davies

Tom Davies Bespoke Trends 2018

The one to watch this year is Tom Davies. Late last year, quintessentially British Designer Tom, opened a UK factory and his 5th flagship store in London. By uniting all his manufacturing and sales in the UK, he coined the term “Made In England” to represent his patriotic brand. Tom Davies represents bespoke luxury eyewear, offering fully customisable frames, ensuring the perfect fit every time. By using only the highest quality materials, principally natural horn, pure titanium and cotton acetate, his designs are the chosen favourite of many celebrities including Ed Sheeran, Oliver Proudlock and Henry Cavill. A continuation of his clean designs combined with luxury materials are expected from Tom Davies this year.

Face a Face Alium

In 2017, we saw the Face a Face Alium range take off, becoming our go to brand for men whose lives require a frame for an active lifestyle. Alium frames are made from aluminium, a metal twice as light as titanium making them strong, yet surprisingly light-weight. Often produced with a coloured backing or in brighter colours, they offer a contemporary, yet expressive option to the modern man. Alium are smart enough for the office, casual enough for leisure time and robust enough for sporting activities. With technical design at it’s core, we can’t wait to see what’s next in Alium.
