Summer is coming and with it a new sense of optimism. It’s great to be writing to update you about all the exciting progress at Claudine Ickeringill Optometrists without having to focus primarily on COVID issues. With so many new innovations in eye care I wanted to update you on what’s new in practice.
Eyecare innovations
We have recently upgraded our OCT eye scanner and peripheral vision analyser to the very latest state of the art machines. Alongside our Optomap and slit lamp cameras we provide the best eye examination we have ever been able to. This allows us to spot problems even earlier than before and provide you the very best care.
This new technology is backed up by some carefully chosen additions to our small team. Joe Harmes has joined our dispensing team and Emily will now greet you as front of house. We are also delighted to welcome Abi who has joined Claudine and I as an optometrist. New staff bring increased opportunities for you to access our service at times which suit you, while still benefiting from top personal care and attention from a small and committed team.
Looking your best
The Spring-Summer 2022 collections of all our favourites are now in practice including Face a Face, Chanel, Tom Ford and Lindberg. We have also got some brilliant new brands for you, including Feb31st – Bespoke wooden frames, Mont Blanc and Saint Laurent.
Seeing your best
The best frames deserve the best lenses. Rodenstock has recently upgraded their varifocal offering allowing us to give you a more bespoke lens than ever before. Our new DNEye scanner allows us to take biometric measurements to provide you with the very best varifocal and occupational lenses, tailored to you in a way never previously possible.
We continue to offer the very latest in contact lens technology. We are currently part of a trial of the latest technology in astigmatic contact lenses and are also fitting the NaturalVue EDOF (Extended Depth of Field) lenses. These can offer seamless distance and close vision to varifocal wearers who want to wear contact lenses.
Myopia Control
We continue to develop our specialist interest in myopia control for children. That means picking up short-sightedness early and slowing its progression. These special contact lenses or glasses can reduce progression by on average 65 per cent in children and teenagers who are developing myopia.

A bit of news from home
My wife Rachel is expecting our fourth child in early July! So apologies in advance for the big bags around my eyes by late summer!
