The first fashion collection released in 1966 was named ‘Saint Laurent Rive Gauche’ and was the first ready-to-wear luxury fashion line in Europe representing the first step in the modernisation of fashion.
During his career, Saint Laurent became top of the fashion world adapting tuxedos for women and is famous for his sheer blouse and jumpsuit pieces. He was the first designer to have a retrospective on his work at the Metropolitan Museum in New York and the brand now competes with the most high-end luxury fashion brands in the world.
