Spring / summer 2019 marked the launch of Paul Smith’s new eyewear collection. Handcrafted in the Italian Dolomites, the new optical frames and sunglasses focus on attention to detail.
Each frame follows a rigorous manufacturing process, crafted from the highest quality materials. Specially developed acetates from Italian experts, Mazzucchelli provide a unique colour palette which reflects Paul Smith’s love of bold colour. The colours in the eyewear range will change from season to season in harmony with his fashion collection.
Signature features in the eyewear include sides with a custom metal core etched with the Paul Smith stripe and an inlaid gold P logo detail on the end tips. In the classic metal styles an engraved herringbone pattern may be seen on the sides, inspired by traditional tailoring fabrics.
The launch collection reflects a mix of traditional and modern, true to his unmistakable brand. Since 1976, his designs have become a worldwide fashion icon that is distinctively English and represents Paul Smith’s personality and style for mixing old with new.
The Paul Smith story began in 1970 when whilst managing his first boutique in Nottingham, Paul Smith was encouraged by his future wife Pauline Denyer to take tailoring classes. The rest is history! After decades of service to the British fashion industry, Paul was rewarded for his outstanding designs with a knighthood in 2000.
In the words of Paul Smith:
‘You can find inspiration in everything and if you can’t, look again’
