How To Clean Reusable Contact Lenses

If you wear reusable contact lenses, they will need to be cleaned every day. This applies whether they are monthly, fortnightly or any other duration with the exception of daily disposable contact lenses which should be thrown away after use. Once removing your contact lenses, follow these steps to reduce the chance of infection and keep the contact lenses in good condition.

  1. Place the lens in the palm of your hand and add a few drops of your multi-purpose solution
  2. Rub both sides of the contact lens for approximately 10 seconds and then rinse with a generous amount of multi-purpose solution
  3. Ensure your contact lens case is clean and dry and fill will fresh multi-purpose solution
  4. Place your contact lens in the case ensuring it is fully immersed
  5. Repeat for the other eye
  6. You’re done!
  7. Soak overnight or for at least 6 hours
  8. Remove your contact lenses from the case and rinse with fresh multi-purpose solution before inserting into your eyes
  9. Afterwards, tip out the old solution and rinse the case with more multi-purpose solution
  10. Allow the case to air dry ready for when you remove your lenses later

Important Note: If you leave your contact lenses in storage for more than 7 days, you must clean and disinfect them again before wear as per the above instructions.
